Writer’s Guidelines For
Perrets’ Humor Files

Thank you for your interest in Perrets’ HUMOR FILES, a collection of jokes by a whole bunch of talented writers.  And we’d love for you to be a part of the group.

Writers will be compensated for their work. Currently, we are paying $5.00 per accepted line. We know this isn’t a fortune and hopefully as HUMOR FILES grows, so will the paychecks.

What we are looking for:

Solid one-liners, jokes on current events, newsmakers, trends, holidays, special events, things around the office, home life…in fact just about anything you may want to write about.  We prefer quotable, stand-alone gags…although if you have an idea for something different or a gimmick we haven’t thought of yet, then give it a shot. Although you don’t have to be a subscriber to ROUND TABLE, we will be listing topics on the website for our subscribers on a weekly basis. We do encourage participants to subscribe to ROUND TABLE. ROUND TABLE is a collection of the writings by Gene Perret and others. There is a plethora of comedy writing information on the website. The lines we are looking for follow the principles found in the articles in ROUND TABLE. You can subscribe at www.comedywritersroom.com. Also as a subscriber to ROUND TABLE you can be listed in our directory for Writers or Comedians (or both!)

Submissions:

  • You can email your submissions to us at HumorFiles@jokecrafters.com. Submissions must be contained in the email.  Attachments will be deleted, unopened.
  • You may submit by regular mail at Round Table, PO Box 786, Agoura Hills, CA 91376.
  • We ask that you limit your jokes to no more than 20 jokes per submission, but you can submit as often as you like. Smaller batches make it easier to review.
  • Submissions will not be acknowledged or returned.
  • Lines may be edited or altered as we deem necessary.

Payment:

  • Payment is $5.00 for each accepted and used joke and payment will be issued after publishing. We recommend that you sign up for the HUMOR FILES newsletter at www.jokecrafters.com so you can be alerted when new jokes are added to see if yours are included.
  • Payments will be issued once a month around the 15th.
  • Payment will be by check or Venmo unless other arrangements are made.
  • Payment will be in US Funds only.
